The Worst Damn Sports Show Ever – Colin Cowherd’s SportsNation
For those of you lucky enough to have a steady 9-5 job in this economy, you were also lucky enough to miss the first two days of what may just be the worst sports show ever. That’s a lot to live up to, but damn it, Michelle Beadle and Colin Cowherd are giving it their best on ESPN’s new show Sportsnation. The show airs on ESPN 2 at 4:00 PM, but with the format of the show it belongs more on ESPN ADD. Here’s a brief breakdown of why this show is awful.
In the Herd!
- While Michelle Beadle may be attractive in that ‘she seems like she would do anything to you’ kind of way, she
Vince Carter certainly appreciates Michelle's talent(s) - look at those eyes!
definitely doesn’t belong debating sports topics. After wondering to myself, “Where the hell did they find this girl?” a little research provided the answer. The YES network, for some reason that isn’t much of a surprise.
- Then there is the immortal Colin Cowherd. Is there a more pompous man in all of sports radio? The man who asked his reader to listeners a DoS attack against the Big Lead. The man who once prematurely and incorrectly contributed Sean Taylor’s death to his “gang-related past catching up with him.” has apparently been rewarded for such classy opinions with his own TV shows..And let me assure you, the results are unbearable.
- After you get past how epically bad our hosts are that then leads you to the show’s format. Basically each topic gets 75 seconds. In this short amount of time the two hosts ‘debate’ the topic at hand. After time expires they both vote on which side of the topic they fall on, and then we get the privilege of seeing what Sportsnation thinks, on every topic. tWWL is openly catering to those with ADD right now.
- Then we come to the little creative segments they have. Three of these are either tired or ripped off gimmicks. The first is power rankings. Not only are power rankings extremely overdone, they are absolutely asinine when done by fans and debated by our hosts. Two showcase Colin’s wit, another segment is watching random web clips – Exactly what I watch my sports shows for! You Tube-ish clips that have nothing to do with sports at all! And finally we have cheers and jeers. I would bother explaining, but its pretty self explanatory and also obvious to anyone who has ever read TV Guide.
- As for their original ideas, they surprising aren’t that great. One of which is “Fake calls from real fans”. The segment features viewers calling up and pretending to be certain athletes asking questions about their futures are current situations. About the only entertaining part about this is hearing what sounds like 5’5” 110 lbs. white computer programmer calling up pretending to Shaq. Other than that the questions are dumb and the answers are equally unintelligible. The second is ‘Fanish or Foolish’. In this fans e-mail their opinions to the show, and Colin depends whether their opinions are correct (fanish) or foolish. Basically a bunch of softballs are tossed to Colin as the opinions are usually of two varieties, completely absurd or slightly reasonable.
- About the only redeeming quality the show has comes at the end of the show in a segment called, “You said what?” This is because a viewer gets to call out one of the inane things that both of the hosts have said throughout the coarse of the show, and point out its lack of common sense, while the hosts tries to defend their statement. I really wish Colin had this on ‘The Herd’ when he made his Sean Taylor comment so he could have hung himself just a little more.
Honestly, I really can’t see that many people watching this show. I’d much rather watch the 2008 WSOP for the 987th time. That being said, I give this show three weeks. Four if Michelle takes her top off.

If I call in pretending to use stats like “On Base Percentage” and ” WHIP” will he send a ninja death squadron to my house?

Hell, he had someone call in as the Idiot Barking Dog yesterday… And I agree. Michelle’s yabos give it an extra week…

It didn’t take me long to get sick of following their twitter feed. I should be smacked for ever following it in the first place, but I didn’t relaize it was for a show featuring Colin Coward.

I saw a preview of this show on sportscenter the other day. I quickly shut off my tv and sent an angry email to espn. Not that it’ll help at all.
This Guy
Guy looks like a cow herd trampled his face, the ugly fuck. He loses the week gained by those ta-tas.

I do not love Colin but this article sucks. He has a 1 and a half yr. contract. You go ahead and give it 3 or 4 weeks but it is not going anywhere.

the only positive thing about this show is michelle. colin is a faggot!

show made me laugh. show made my girlfriend laugh. think he’s got another hit. I watch sportscenter religiously, and only two shows, get promoted on it. PTI and Sportsnation. That tells me, ESPN must like it. Plus the previous poster is right. The herd mentioned he has a long contract for the tv show. Think he said two years.
