In honor of the Brock Lesnar situation at UFC 100, our open thread today will deal with historical heel turns, as viewed through American Eyes. For those of you who don’t know the term – a heel turn is when a ‘good guy’ or a ‘face’ does something to antagonize the crowd. For those of you who don’t know what Brock did at UFC 100, check out Rockabye’s piece at the Rookies

5) Ayatollah Kohmeni – Not higher on the list because, let’s face it, he always was a bit of a tweener. Although the US representative to the UN declared him a saint, official policy supported the Shah.

4) Hollywood Hogan - For realz, did anyone see the garbage overflowing the ring when he joined the NWO. One of the best moments in WCW history.

3) “Uncle” Joe Stalin – Can you believe in 2 years he went from uncle Joe to be being behind an iron curtain. Stealing atomic bomb secrets was a really heel-riffic move.

2) Osama Bin Laden – Originally was a US ally against the USSR, but poor planning by the US government led that to backfire. Would be #1 except for one even more despicable figure.

Almost but not quite - the story of his career

1) Benedict Arnold – Can you believe this son of a bitch? Appointed a General in the continental army, he turns Fort Saratoga over to the British. Got what he deserved .
