Well I’ll be god-damned, all of those podcasts JB and I spent talking about twitter – and its showing up yet again. By now everyone’s heard of the Ochocinco twitter boycott, but Kerry Rhodes is teasing a big announcement for the Jets tomorrow – and he’s hinting its some type of trade.

PFT has been talking about this all day – and I don’t believe its because Florio has a hard-on against the Jets. If you check out Kerry’s twitter, he’s been answering questions all day. Also, I should note, Kerry has a strong presence here on Long Island, and everyone I know that has had interactions with him says he is an absolute gentleman (a friend’s high school football practice had Rhodes show up one day and ask the coach if he could work with the team, just because he passed them doing his run every day). I don’t think Kerry is messing with the fans, and he seems very very excited about this.

On a larger scale, this is proving the point about Twitter becoming a legitimate news source for people. If I could figure out a way to profit on this, I’d be lighting Cohibas with C-Notes right now, but as for now its all free. With Twitter breaking down walls between athletes and players, one could wonder how relevant some ESPN news style reporting is going to be. I personally think that sports journalism can shift gears to longer, more feature oriented pieces – while becoming more interactive. On a personal note, I hope the Pub continues to move in this direction. Interactivity and good feature writing can become a key component of the internet as news reporting gets broken down into quick updates provided by Twitter, Facebook, etc.
