Let us pray for the Phillies’ continued survival in the World Series…

prayers or penance, you choose...

I’d like to see the Phillies win, because I hate the fucking Yankees. No, I don’t recall saying that before, why do you ask?

Okay, your mini tour of what you may have missed:

Last Call is over at the Rookies tonight. As usual, BYOB.

  • Yeah, if I have to write the post-mortem on this baseball season tomorrow, I’m not going to be happy. I’ll do it, but I’m not going to be happy.

  • Oh, and quit posting personal pictures of your Halloween party, lady. I can’t take much more.

  • dave

No one at the Rookies, no one really hear. Did AJ kill last call while he was visiting?

  • Rob in WI

    The Fuck’s a Ramiro Pena?

  • dave

@Sculptor?!?: I think you are trying to start a war. Man did you ever learn from AJ. Good job. Soon last call will be dead, there will be commenter bodies from here to The Gally. Commenter against Commenter, sites crashed. People will rally around Chairman How’s Glorious army and Wildcat Nation, some will seek refuge in the Sportress of Blogitude behind the Moat. Others will be trying to Avoid the dropping of dick joke bombs that will Melt your Face off. Only those that are made With leather will survive.

  • Old King Clancy

Who was that guy in here earlier and what did he do with Daulerio?

  • AJ and I have had a decent relationship*

*that reflects only f’(x) and not the rest of the staff

    • I don’t have any issues with him personally, and although I may disagree with some of his management practices, I’d still buy him a beer or two if I ran into him.
But hey, there’s room on this planet for everyone, and if we all agreed on everything we’d be bored shitless.

  • dave

@Sculptor?!?: No, I could have kept on, but it’s one of things that might have been funny at first but the more you keep on it the more people want to smash your face with a blunt untraceable object.

  • dave

Cliff Lee, kicking the Yankees in the cock again. (with help from CHutley).

  • Chicago Sometimes

Hey fuck nuts! Last Call is everywhere tonight, so I’ll say hi to you all.

So I see today you had a…visitor. Hmm, nice. I trust he’s looking well. /chill

    I shouldn’t talk…in fact I have a confession to make about a recent much-maligned-sports-personality meeting of my own…

    /but first i want a lawyer dammit…!
    //cowers in corner

    • Howdy. And it’s not a surprise I’m here at least.

Please don’t cower in the corner. Come right up to the bar and do it, just like the rest of us.

      • Rob in WI

I’m just saying… maybe it’s a surprise to some of us who are kinda dumb?

/way too much sports going on tonight.

        • Nope, I’m always here Friday thru Monday nights. No surprise, unless you’re unobservant. And not that I’d expect anyone to come looking for me either

          • Rob in WI

Interesting… either I hadn’t noticed, or because Friday and Monday are my “busy” days I don’t chat as much at the other places

  • dave

Even if they don’t win the series, CHultey needs to be the MVP. I know it does not make sense. But 5 fucking HR’s how can you deny that.

  • Chicago Sometimes

@Sculptor?!?: (deep breath) Okay. Fine. But let me first just say that, despite the haters’ (admittedly well-founded) gripes I have always been a fan. Besides today being Monday, a notoriously slow restaurant day, I made shit tips and needed a pick me up okay???

The good news about a slow day is you get to go home early. And while trudging home I remembered that I worked a half-mile or so from ESPN Zone. And that’s how I wound up third in line tonight to have my big-ass basketball book signed by Bill Simmons.

    Please don’t hate me.

    • Not in the least. Like I said before, there’s room for everyone (well, except Rush Limbaugh, Jay Marotti, and Lady Gaga. They can all fuck off). If you got a piece of happy by having the book signed, who am I to judge? Good on you!

      • Chicago Sometimes

Seeing his Dad show up was even more surreal. Hell, we expected to see Bill but I admit seeing his Dad got us stoked.

/he seemed painfully shy so i resisted the temptation to have him, a frequent topic/guest in his columns/books, sign as well

        • Actually, that’s pretty damn cool. I think he’s a bit of a bloviated douche, but he’s at least sincere about it (by and large). Unlike most others, who appear to rail against the topic du jour just to process oxygen and hear themselves speak.

  • dave

Chan Ho is still in baseball. I thought someone revoked his Visa and sent him home.

  • dave

I am scared to watch this inning. I know that Lidge is coming out.

The way I look at the Last Call issue is that they did get the link and put up a post, and when it comes down to it I don’t have a problem with them. So, I’ve posted there. However, on the flip side they don’t participate in Last Call other than the post itself, and don’t come to any of the other sites. At least, I don’t think they do because I’m not sure who writes for the site anymore. So is there even a point? As it stands, having two dead days out of seven steadily diminishes the overall product.

I always march to the beat of my own drummer, but in terms of a disconnect if it’s based on the lack of participation then I understand that and if I think about it there is no real reason to talk to the air.

/sits in the middle of divide, smokes “peace pipe”, shits pants.
