Well, I’m back from the convention, and still stuck in a Western Scottish accent. Which, all things considered, isn’t a bad thing.

I have no idea what I missed, and I’ve got such a  case of the sports withdrawal DTs I can’t tell you. I’ve no links to give you either. Perhaps you’ll post some interesting ones in the comments. Or not.   Last Call is at the Rookies, I think. It’s Monday, right? Honestly, I’m rather discombobulated.

    • Oh, no, no sales all show. However, I was personally invited to vend at three different shows, and I’ve got networking out the wahzoo. So that’s potentially worth more than short term sales (though that would’ve been nice).
Sales would have been nice, but in this economy, I can understand why the punters won’t buy; were I on the opposite side of the table, I’d be telling the vendor the same thing the punters were telling me. I completely understand, and harbour no grudges. Doesn’t mean I need to like it, but I understand it.

      • Way to look at the long term. I hope that networking pays off.

Glad you’re keeping your chin up.

        • Ha, yeah, I’m tougher than that. Plus, I’ve only been sculpting since March 07, so now it’s just marketing and appearing at shows. Got to keep getting in the punters’ faces in as many markets as possible – if they don’t know about me or my art, they’re not going to know they want to buy it.

Sculptor, you went to a Faeriecon gathering? Since when did you become anti-Semitic?

  • dave

Ok, has someone opened a local AA. There seems to be a lot of missing patrons from this establishment lately. M’sJ went missing after his roast, Hanson’s Axe kind the same thing, I have seen Marisa in so long I think it ok to declare her officially missing, almost of all the Style point kids have joined the witness protection program to hide from Ron Artest and Mike Tyson. the only time you see Weed is when he posting for the Spin. Ailanthus is MIA. The avoiding the drop staff has dropped from sight, I don’t know if this is in protest to the RSL team be bounced from the playoffs. I don’t know how much of this is actually true, just felt like writing and taking up space on the interwebs. Please return to your drinks.

Perhaps a summit of some sort is in order?

      • Well, M’sJ has been missing for a bit. AA has been deep into grad studies, but she’s working on a huge story. CHA was on this weekend. The ATD boys were also. Fuse did appear for Christina Hendricks and Kristen Bell. ;)

The Style Points Kids are all busier than heck. Socks is a family man, you know…

Marissa is no longer a writer here, that’s all you need to know on that. She’s over at Lady Business, if you want to find her.

And that’s my blunt military style talking, isn’t it? Well… more drinks for everyone on me!

    • Rob in WI

We had a good crowd on Saturday night, of all nights.

Marissa is doing her LadyBusiness thing, AA is around on the Twitter.

@James Brown: As I stated at the end, I was just throwing shit out there. It seems to have worked as you are all now here. And I feel fairly well scolded JB.

  • I’ve been here all along. But obviously, based on this weekend’s traffic, you no longer need me.
    \sniffle sniffle

  • Completely off topic (is there a topic)? Does anyone know where to find a non-operative late 19th century revolver that I can modify for costume? Teh eBays is a bust…

I was bored today so I went and found this:

not that is was that hard, and it still makes me laugh.

    • monchhichi

Ah yes, you are Strmking, no? I remember that night. And I will never forget Saber’s post, despite deep continual therapy.

  • RATL

@James Brown: I have this College Basketball Naismith Watch list type thing if you want to run it. It’s just a bunch of names as of now. I can probably throw some analysis in there though.

  • On the note of pub regularity, I’m just going to mention that since I’m going to be teacher again for the next three weeks, I probably won’t be in the pub too often.

I do have another question for the editors – would you send some love the way of http://www.plainsoccer.com ? (Mostly dropping a link if you think we have a decent post)?

We’ve actually had some quite good posts, although they have been less frequent (& less good of late), the frequency, at least, is picking up again. If there’s pub e-mail, we could discuss it over that.

    • no problem. you support us, we support you. it’s called community.

      • My friend’s working on setting up an interview with a scouting agency that Real Madrid uses (performance analysis). We’re expecting an article to be posted on that in about two weeks.

        • Email me at my Pub address; I’ll reply through my personal account. And of course any time you find anything you feel should be linked or mentioned, contact one of us. Or dump it in the comments section of a post where applicable. We’ve always wanted this place to be for the community…

  • @dave: It’s kinda sad reading through that. Like sitting in your favourite chair with a bag of letters from your friends and then you realize that someone ate a load of figs and shit in the bag.

    • dave

@semper_ubi_sub_ubi: It is a little, but then again you read the ones where people went out guns a blazin and it makes you smile. But at the end of the day, it lead us here, which in MHO is a better place to spend my time at work, not working. It has given some exposure to blog that might not otherwise get much traffic.

      • MHO?

        my humble opinion?

I know one of the positives is that I’m now reading more blogs than I did before. I knew that there were interesting commenters on the old site, but I never really checked out their stuff (except foodcourtlunch and ksk). Now I’m trying to read the stuff of some of the commenters here (and some of the old ones too), so I am being exposed to better content overall. It just takes more effort.

        • oh yeah, and in all honesty, I do think that there are some very good posts that I’ve read on this site in particular (and elsewhere). Kinda the more essay style that I think is one of the directions that blogging should go in (one of the others being funny as hell).

          • Thanks gang, that means a lot. We tried from the start to have a fun place for people to hang and relax, while trying to provide interesting and funny things to read. And all that hopefully without the drama.

  • Oh, and BTW Semper, you’re now on the blogroll.

  • Okay, I’m tired of looking at Stu Scott’s crazy eyeballs. I’m going to bed. See you lot tomorrow.
