So. That happened (insert sporting event with which you are thoroughly disgusted). Time for a random hot chick:

random chick 1I feel better. How about you?

Okay, let’s be realistic. It’s the weekend, and outside of sports, not a lot happens; half of the fun blogs don’t post on weekends.  So as in weeks past, the Sunday Last Call is just going to be an open thread for you to rant, scream, insult Joe Buck or otherwise get your intarwebz yayas out.  The comments are now open…

Ugh… this game is just wretched.

  • Which one? There have been many…

  • RATL

This is so funny. Does Andy Reid know that if the other team scores a touchdown every drive and you get a field goal, you can’t catch up? I love how some people consider them a superbowl contender with such inept coaching.

On a side note, Dallas/GB sucks.

  • Rob in WI

Cowboys at Packers. So, so bad, I switched first to NASCAR, then to college basketball… IUPUFW vs UW

  • Rob in WI

Is the Fox HD Feed down for everyone? Or just my shitty luck?

  • Party people in the house.

  • Rob in WI

Wait, what the fuck can’t the review about that?

The NFL is making MLB umpires look good today.

    • RATL

I’m glad it wasn’t, i needed those extra points. Once i saw Rodgers in the gun there i thought it was gonna be a draw and another rushing TD. Oh well i’ll take it.

    • Hank Scorpio-Steinbrenner

It is a Jeff Triplett ref’d game. He is to good officiating what General Sherman was to fire prevention.

  • Old King Clancy

Chris Simms is really terrible at football.

  • Hank Scorpio-Steinbrenner

Roy Williams is the Muhammad Ali of suck.

  • lowercase

Not that I mind both Wade Phillips and America’s Team sucking tremendously, but at some point doesn’t Tony Romo get the hook? Chalk it up to a bad day and start over next week.

  • I can pretty much guarantee you that there is not one soul in Philadelphia who thinks Donovan McNabb could somehow find a way to pull out a miracle here.

    • RATL

I’m from Philly and not an Eagles fan. I have no idea why Andy Reid is still coaching that team and why McNabb is the quarterback. I would have cut him the year after Garcia came in and took them to the playoffs. This team is a joke.

      • McNabb’s issues have been shown out over the years, he can’t handle big games, he cannot lead them back when behind, he’s wildly inconsistent, he’s moody, etc.

Reid, on the other hand, is just over-rated and has been in one place for way too long. I think his sense of self-contentment knowing it would darn near take an act of God to get him out of there leads him into lazy coaching, lazy GM work and lazy habits such as losing games to the Oakland Raiders. He’s pathetic and should go,

        • The big game thing shouldn’t always be a killer. If it was, the Colts would have cut Manning well before Simmons started calling him the clutchiest of clutch.
I’m not a Philly fan, but I think it’s Reid far more than McNabb. Reid is the one who doesn’t think you need a run game. Reid is the one who has no idea how the clock works.
McNabb CAN make the throws, just not all all the time.

          • Rob in WI

McNabb throws more one hoppers than Jeter.
McNabb couldn’t run a 2 minute offense in the Super Bowl because he was hung over (the point, if I were in charge, I would have traded him)
McNabb is the one who’s so insecure, he can’t handle having other good players on offense that might over shadow him (he’s 50% to blame for TO, his pouting when the Eagles drafted Kolb, his relationship with Garcia, his 180 on Vick). The only reason he gets along with Westbrook is because he’s hurt for 4 games, making McNabb look durable by comparison.
McNabb’s refusal to use his talents early on (being mobile and his ability to run as a QB) because he didn’t want to be compared to “Black Quarterbacks” that were scramblers (i.e. Randall)

            • Woah woah woah.
Are you just typing out of anger, or trying to be funny, or do I really have to go through that point by point and mention just how wrong you are?

              • Rob in WI

I’m always up for a good debate. I was not typing out of anger, or to be funny.

Though, I do hate me some McNabb, to be fair.

                • Ok well I’m just talking football, don’t take it personal.
                  1. True.
                  2. Really? You know something we don’t?
                  3. He asked for TO, the issue with TO started when TO insulted the coaching staff; of course he was mad at drafting another QB (who wouldn’t be? You ask the team for offensive help, and they draft a guy to replace you? That’s like a police officer asking for an improvement in his partner, and management assigning the both of you to a different shift in response); what about his relationship with Garcia? Garcia’s been disliked by other quarterbacks on every team he’s been on. Also, McNabb vouched for Vick. Unless you know something Peter King doesn’t. (Go ahead, make your joke). True; McNabb and Westbrook have had injury problems.
                  4. What does “early on” mean? Early on in his career? All he did for the first three years of his career was run around; then he broke his ankle in the Arizona game and started getting injured as a direct result of his playing style. McNabb then beefed up and ADAPTED his game to better suit the team, the offense, and his own body. Argue about the results if you wish, but you’re foggy on the basic facts.

            • RATL
            • I also disagree with a bunch of those points, but I’m off to buy beer. I can’t watch the Colts play the Pats without approaching alcohol poisoning.

          • RATL

McNabb also moves as well as a 70 year old woman and is completely inconsistent. Reid gets way too much credit. It’s disgusting.

    • There was one. Two, if Shakey has a soul.

  • So wait, sixth time is the charm?
/GB’s sixth O-Line configuration of the season

    • Rob in WI

Something like that. It’s not like Rodgers hasn’t been hit. But it’s one of those cases of arguing murder down to manslaughter.

    • Totally my point, I think McNabb’s issues are documented enough that we know what we have there. With Reid, though, it’s worse because his response to his issues always is “We have to do that better than we’re doing it now.” Well fuck me running, if you KNOW that, fucking do it. This isn’t rocket science and he gets outcoached regularly by guys who SHOULD have no business outcoaching him. And it’s always “We have to do better.” Bullshit. Don’t try, there is no “try”, there is only “do”.

      /Yoda
//Hallelujah, Holy Shit, Where’s the Tylenol?

  • I don’t blame him for this loss or anything, but just to say it, Shady McCoy is fucking terrible.

    • RATL

He got 3 carries. He’s not a 3 carry guy. He’s a 25-35 carry guy. He’s a wildcat guy. Reid is just too dumb to utilize him like he should be used. The eagles have 3 guys that are great in the wildcat and a huge liability for a quarterback. Sounds like the perfect formula. Nope.

      • Questions of utilization do not excuse his running style. He’s more hesitant than a middle-schooler at a dance.

        • RATL

I’ve seen him for 2 years and your wrong. He finds a whole and he hits it. His offense line also doesn’t help him.

          • Eh. Maybe back in college he did, I didn’t watch him then. But since he’s been an Eagle, nah. No dice. Thankfully, its something that can be coached out of him, and I still have hope for him, but right now… ouch. Eagles need another back until Westbrook comes back; unfortunately, of course, no one’s out there worth signing… or at least, worth the headache of signing (last thing Birds need is LJ).

  • Hank Scorpio-Steinbrenner

Of course Roy makes the big play when it’s too fucking late. Well done, dumbass.

  • Rob in WI

I might have a new favorite Wisconsin Badger.

Ryan Evans has a high top fade that would make Kid N Play jealous.

  • Old King Clancy
    • I think a lot more of stories like these happen and are never reported, which is sad when you think about how much press is given to all the bad things NFL players do. Kudos to Cribbs.

    • RATL

Yeah I read it on Yahoo. He didn’t want people to know about it and have the media make a big deal about it. Good to see something positive about that team.

  • Okay, so who else is watching the remake of The Prisoner?

  • Rob in WI

@Chris Hanson’s Axe: Sort of point by point:

“McNabb couldn’t run a 2 minute offense in the Super Bowl because he was hung over (the point, if I were in charge, I would have traded him)”

We both agree that he had a problem in that 2 minute drill, right? I’m assuming the argued point was his enjoying the Jacksonville nightlife the night before. There were rumours abound that he’d been out too late the night before, and perhaps they were more TMZ than anything legit. But using the old adage “hear it once, ok.. hear it twice, I begin to wonder… hear it three times it’s a trend”.

The problems with TO started when TO came back for the Super Bowl, but McNabb wasn’t ready to play (whether you believe the night out stories or not, see the first part of my re-rebuttal). The point that TO was never able to relay effectively was how he came back and played with an injury that should have kept him out to win a championship (selfish or not, he thought it’d help the team win a championship that he desperately wanted to have). That’s part of the reason there was the 50/50 (or whatever) divide in the lockerroom when TO was pushed out.

Management got good backup QBs because their QB was fragile. What did he expect management to do? Say what you will, but at least Favre handled it better.

McNabb had a semi-infamous whine/diatribe about not being a running QB. I thought it was before his injuries, but it *might* have been after his first foot/ankle injury. It WAS before the knee injuries though.

    • TO was whining before the Super Bowl. During the time when he was injured, during the playoffs, McNabb and the rest of the team (as they should have) had multiple platitudinal statements saying things along the lines of “Oh, we’ll be fine without TO.” As they should, obviously, to keep up a positive attitude; what did TO expect them to say, “omg TO isn’t here, we might as well cancel the season”?

Anyway, TO had some public comments expressing how he didn’t feel he was appreciated, which led to his offseason contract complaints (he was “only” making 3 mil that year), which eventually came to broadside criticisms of McNabb, Reid, and some specific insults for then-coordinator Brad Childress. Then things got ugly. Not sure where that is McNabb’s fault. He lost a Super Bowl game after a shaky performance; should we trade Dan Marino and John Elway, too?

Also, just a guess, maybe McNabb’s semi-infamous whine/diatribe came shortly after the leader of Philadelphia’s NAACP chapter came at him? Or maybe after Rush Limbaugh insulted him? Wow, what a jackass, getting mildly upset after very public people very publicly insulted him. What was he supposed to do?

The rest is your opinion; I disagree, but its cool.

      • Rob in WI

Going in reverse… I’m almost positive that it was before the Limbaugh nonsense, but not sure about the NAACP thing.

As for the TO thing, I think we see the same thing, but see different reasons why it got to where it did. You’re right on the platitudinal statements. But knowing that TO was tempermental, the leaders of the team needed to be more direct with him. I won’t pin that aspect entirely on McNabb.

I do think you underestimate the TO playing injured and McNabb not running the 2minute drill offense, but am willing to agree to disagree.

      • RATL

Here are a few problems i have with McNabb. I believe no matter who you are, what sport you play, there are two things you can do and there’s no excuse for not doing them.

        1) Stay in shape
        2) Play hard

McNabb doesn’t do either of those. How many times has he ducked out of bounds to avoid a hit (look at the Ten game where he tore his ACL). He takes a little hit there and maybe he doesn’t get hurt. Then when he’s coming back from that he puts on another 15 pounds. And no it’s not the same as a quarterback sliding or diving to avoid a hit. If you’re in the middle of the field you’ll get hit on the head or shoulder which could cause major damage where as going out of bounds you’ll barely touched. Look at Adrian Peterson. He was asked if you have a first down and you see a db coming towards you what do you do? Without hesitation “I go for the guy” Mark Schlereth was talking about Reggie Bush last year and criticizing him for the same thing. God forbid anyone criticize McNabb.

  • Rob in WI

    @Sculptor

I read some bad reviews so I passed on it. Might catch it onDemand

    • Well, so far, the only issue I have with it is all of the retarded “look inside” snippets where AMC decides they need to explain shit.
Otherwise, it’s quite surreal, but I won’t be able to solidly compare it to the original until I’ve seen two or three episodes.

  • HernandezStache

NBC would like to remind everyone to go green and reduce your carbon footprint……..while everyone sees this green peacock on their giant fucking LCDs

    • Chicago Sometimes

I’m too depressed by the fact that any day now they’ll be majority-owned by Comcast.

That’s right, one of the original pioneers of broadcast radio & tv — the network of Winchell, Berle, Carson and Seinfeld — are being taken over by a buncha fuck knuckles who can’t even manage to make a decent modem.

      Bad times for those guys.

  • Chicago Sometimes

    Hey there fuck nanners.

Damn this week’s footbaw sched sucked — except Indy/Pats which of course I can’t even stay up late & watch the end of cuz I have to get up insanely early now. And I lost (mummmmble mumble) bucks cuz the goddamn Skins won (ugh) and so did the Bengals (wow, respect). Ouch.

Good news though, got a lotta weight lifting done today, what with all that game-watching time freed up…

  • Oh, good gods. Who in hell let Andrea Kramer out of the house wearing THAT?

  • Belichick…hubris much?
