Hello, gang. It’s JB, still late from work, but I’m home today. FD is off today and Wednesday due to taking his finals. You get to put with me for this morning, and Two Yellows on Wednesday. So, let’s begin!
What you missed while you enjoyed the cool, sweet tears of Tebow.
- BCS Championship Game: Texas v. Alabama
- Fiesta Bowl: TCU v. Boise State
- Sugar Bowl: Cincy v. Florida
- All other bowls, go here.
- Pettitte going back to the Evil Empire for his 16th overall MLB season.
- Saints and Colts are still perfect this time.
- Minnesota Favres bow down before Kurt Christ.
- E.J. Henderson breaks his leg. This will be the one time you’ll see me cringe, btw.
- Tim Donaghy says he didn’t try to influence games, via 60 Minutes.
- Weis backs off of Carroll comments.
- Finally, Vick lifts up Eagles to win against his old team.
Be sure to keep all hands and limbs inside the Pub vehicle at all times, folks. It’s Monday, so go forth and… Work. Finals week fun over for me by tomorrow, gang. I should be back at 100 percent soon.
Go forth and rock this town.

Never ever in my life have I gained so much joy from another’s misery. SUCK IT TIMMY.

Wow, that was GREAT. As most of you know by now, I’m not an NCAA anything fan, so I didn’t see that until just now. FanTASTIC.
Pam
Love it. I missed it live, but the video will do!

I’m going to go against the grain and say that although I can only shake my head in wonder at people who believe so strongly in something that doesn’t make any sense, I respect those maniacs and I actually like Tim Tebow quite a bit.
But then on Saturday I was watching him cry and thought to myself, “There are a HELL of a lot of people suffering in this world – starving, diseased, abused – and this guy is crying over a football game.” Maybe God does care about football – he doesn’t seem to spend that much time concerned about important things like stopping cancer – but if you lose a football game…people are losing their jobs. They’re losing their homes. They have AIDS. Get a fucking grip, Tebow.

Grip this, Tebow!

Jimmy Clausen coming out. I mean for the draft, not, you know, coming out. Well, he might be, but it’d probably be kinda weird. Anyway…

The Browns are very excited about this.

Hopefully that game put the idea in Tebow’s head that no, he’s NOT a first round draft pick at QB. He seems like a great kid, but he’s had people blowing sunshine up his ass for so long, his sense of self-worth is off in at least that area. He’s about as accurate in must pass situations as Conner Casey.

Happy BCS-Mas everybody! IE, the day when bitching about the BCS system reaches its annual peak. Starting tomorrow, acceptance begins to set in and we start talking about the games again.
But in the meantime, I think the only way we’re going to see a playoff in college football is if someone ponies up the huge amount of money needed to pull conferences away from the bowl system. Someone like Jerrah or T.Boone Pickens to underwrite a $200 million cash pool (most of which would be earned back, most likely) and just offer a guaranteed 20 million bucks the to conference for every team that goes into it. Start it with 8 teams unless you get all the leagues on board, and if the Sun Belt is the only team that wants in the first year, then the Sun Belt is $160 million richer.
I know a competing postseason doesn’t sound ideal, but the NIT was once the premiere basketball postseason until the NCAA stepped its game up. Start splashing enough money around (NCAA BB TV rights worth almost a Billion per year) and the faceless “Presidents” will come around.

You leave Tebow alone you sorry sons-a-bitches!!!

@lowercase: I’m not sure a Jerrah, or T Boone would be the ones alone who could get this. They’d need to bring a network into this right away, whether it’s ESPN/ABC, NBC, or CBS.
Actually, Comcast/NBC would be ideal for this. It’d get them a HUGE leg into building their new(ish) sports media brand.
Martin
I agree, it’s all about the cashey money. If the schools don’t think that they could clear $200 million for an 8 team playoff, then get them off the crack. I agree with Rob, it will need to be an outsider, almost like a boxing promoter. Guarantee them a certain amount, and clear the rest off the backside for yourself. Once the schools get the scent of that sweet sweet greenback, they’ll come around.
