What’s up everybody? I know you were all nervous, but don’t worry, your reliable bloggers here at the Pub are going to tell you who to bet today. These were written earlier today, and with some afternoon MLB action, it might be too late. But here’s Day 2 of our Cent Sports Daily Pick.
Notorious M.O.B. – Record: 1-0
Not only did the Celtics cover, they won in a big way. And Paul Pierce’s numbers for the day were 21 pts, 11 reb, 7 ast. Sounds like a way back machine performance to me. Now today, I’m going with an afternoon game, so you’ll have a chance to win early and place a another bet in the evening if you so wish. Today, I’m going against my own rules and taking the, gulp, New York Mets to win at -170. Usually there is a -1.5 line for these games, and if there was I’d tell you to lay the run and go for the extra cash, thats how confident I am in a team that usually deserved no confidence. Why, you ask? Big Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey has been solid in every single one of starts so far this season, except for the one Phillies start, and one could argue the only reason that game was broken open was because of a couple of weak bloopers that dropped right of the infielders grasp. Throw in Pelfrey’s stellar season with a hot home team, and an over achieving National’s team who’s lineup doesn’t exactly strike fear into the opposition and I have to say this is a pretty safe bet. All the Mets need are a couple of runs, and Big Pelf will take care of the rest. So break open your piggy bank, and put some cents on the Mets.
F’(x) – Record 1-0
F.D. sent me (Smitty) an e-mail about 20 minutes ago that just said:
“Can u post MOb and my pick of tigers. In a final
Sent from my iPhone”
I applaud his dedication to this daily cent sports daily pick while taking a law school final exam. The Tigers take on Phil Hughes and the Yankees tonight. F.D. takes the Tigers at +164.
Smitty – Record 1-0
What did I tell you? I told you Barry Zito was due for a loss. Maybe I was a little off on my new savior Wade LeBlanc, but a 6-0 Barry Zito playing on the safe side of the Golden Gate Bridge? No way.
Today, I’m going with the Bruins at +120 to close out their series against the Flyers. Everyone is doubting the Bruins. They’re jumping off the bandwagon quicker than the prick from Titanic who jumps on the lifeboat with the fat lady from Waterboy, while using a child that’s not even his as an excuse to get on the boat. What an asshole. But me? No, I’m Leonardo DeCaprio. I’m staying on as long as I can. I’m here til the end. I know what you’re saying: Leo dies in the end. Eventually, will this bandwagon kill me? Yup. In the next round against the Penguins or Canadiens. But in the next round, I won’t be Leo. I’ll be Rose, laughing at everyone else who didn’t adapt after what they were holding onto went down. I’ll find a new bandwagon to jump on and stay afloat. But tonight, take the Bruins. They feel the urgency to win. The Flyers had their exciting two wins this series.
Tonight, they’re reminded that they’re Philadelphia fans, and bad shit seems to happen to them.
Take your 28 cents, if you followed me yesterday, and accepted an ad related cash bonus, and put it on the Bruins to close the series.
