The football this past weekend was, mostly, uneventful (Iowa-Michigan State notwithstanding). However, around the league, many more interesting things were going on that, for once, made me thankful that the schedule(s) that I keep have pushed this back towards a later in the week process.
So, let’s discuss the Iowa Hawkeyes, Eric Decker, and the rest of the Big Ten in the week 8 recap.
It’s ok to be afraid… it’s only Halloween!

Week two in the Big Ten saw the league take on some bigger fish and tighter games. Seven of the eleven games were decided by one touchdown or less, including one upset, one shocker and a number of games that we’ll remember at the end of the season. Let’s see what we REALLY learned this past week though.

Not the right kind of football socks, but classy nonetheless.
It’s Sunday and you know what that means – NFL!! No wait, it means that I give you a quick run-down of all the wonderful college football that happened this weekend. I flipped around between 3 screens for you people, so I hope that my multitasking is appreciated (I know, it’s so hard to sit around watching football all day, it’d be nice to be appreciated). By the end of the day, I was exhausted and exhilerated.
Want to know what this weekend was about? Well, Put down your beverage or textbook. Smell the air. Do you smell that? It’s the smell of sweat, hard work, determination, critical errors, heroic touchdowns, and excitement. It sort of smells like gym socks (I think that’s due to the errors and hard work).

We’re through our first week of Big Ten play, and… it was uninspiring. Michigan and Penn State looked as good as teams playing poor competition can look. Ohio State struggled playing Navy, and likely looking ahead to USC. Minnesota struggled with Greg Paulus and Syracuse, Illinois was trounced by Missouri. Iowa struggled against Northern Iowa. Northwestern looked impressive, but played Towson. Indiana looked the opposite of impressive against Eastern Kentucky. Michigan State beat up… Montana… State… ugh. And Purdue got one of their probable 3 wins this season by beating… Toledo?
